The Effective Way To Higher Productivity & Greater Focus
Wondering how you can improve your concentration with some focus training strategies?
Here are two very effective focus training techniques you can utilize to help you concentrate better. While there are many questions around how to focus your mind, the answer is often simple – train your mind correctly.
Just as your train your body for endurance so that you can run, climb, play or swim, the mind needs training to maintain focus as you engage in important mental activities.
You should be able to maintain undivided focus during an activity session. When your focus scatters due to tiredness, anxiety or panic, you will under-perform in your tasks.
So how to focus your mind?
It isn’t rocket science. There are simple strategies you could use to narrow your focus down to the task at hand. One is an approach of maintaining your focus all through the project, while the other is a focus drill you can practice while training or actually working on the important parts.
Focus Training Technique #1 : Pin-pointing your focus
To ensure a high success rate at any activity, you must master the trick of how to focus your mind. To maintain focus, you need to first be able to concentrate on one thing (or a narrow set of things) at any given time.
The focus training strategy called pin-pointing allows you to hone your focus even before you start working, and helps you maintain it all through your task. It is simple to learn and practice. All you have to do is quiet your mind before starting work.
All you need to do is follow these simple instructions:
- Stand or sit with your shoulders thrown back.
- Close your eyes.
- Place your fingertips together. Let this touch be light.
- Relax your body, especially your arm and dominant hand.
- Take deep belly breaths, ideally three inhalations and exhalations.
- Inhale through your nose.
- Count slowly to five.
- Exhale through your mouth. Take your time doing this, counting all the while to to 10.
- You will feel a rush of relaxation. Absorb this relaxed feeling, let it seep through you.
- Then shut everything else out and narrow your focus to your finger-tips.
As you concentrate, you are sure to feel thermal energy moving through your fingertips. This kind of deep connection between you and your sub-conscious will solve your problem on how to focus your mind.
Focus on this energy exchange for about two minutes and if your attention wanders, just redirect your mind back to your fingertips and your senses will once again become quiet as your focus narrows.
Then, open your eyes and start working. Following the above simple instruction will enable you master all the focus you need to get your work done.

Focus Training Technique #2 : The Focus Drill
This focus training strategy reveals how to fix your mind on a single aspect during your work. You could focus on your hand movements, or on the words you read or write. This means placing your undivided attention on the details of your hand placement or the position of the words.
The idea is to optimize your movements or actions while focusing your mind. Note how your body moves or how you feel as you work. You can also focus on other areas such as balance and feet movement but this should be done with care. You don’t want to scatter your mind and divide your focus by trying to fix it on too many things at once.
Focusing your mind is not as simple as it may sound. Your concentration may easily shift to other tasks. If this happens, do not fret. Simply regroup your forces, and focus again on what you were trying to before.
Be conscious of your thoughts and actions at all times. This conscious exercise will go a long way in enabling you control your mind and direct it where you want.
As you continue with this focus training drill, you could change gears from one task to another. For instance, if in one session you were writing an article, you could concentrate on reading a report during the next session. As the length of time you are able to focus on a single task or project increases, your mental endurance grows.
Soon, this process of orienting and directing your focus to what you’re doing will become second nature. You will unconsciously know how to focus your mind even through the hardest chores and complex projects.
