5 Forces That Drive You To Succeed

The Drive To Succeed

“Every dream will be challenged!”

These powerful words from a mentor of mine have been burned in fire into my memory.

Rarely, a dream or goal comes true easily and effortlessly, without delays, problems or hurdles. More often, though, you have to overcome many obstacles and suffer some pain before achieving any meaningful target.

And the bigger your dreams, the tougher your challenge, the more ambitious your goals, the more likely it is that you will face difficulties on your way towards it.

When this happens, what will you do?

Will you just give up?

Or will you persist and struggle and succeed?

A lot of that depends upon your attitude and experience – how badly you want to succeed. Some of it depends upon your skills and network. And a tiny bit depends upon luck or chance.

“Be The Best – At Everything You Do”

Every single time I’ve said this to someone, they come back with an argument:

“But how can I be the best in the world at everything? Or even anything?

I then explain and clarify:

I never said ‘best in the world’. 

I only said ‘be the best’

 

So, what’s the difference?

One is comparing yourself with everyone else in your universe, and engaging in a futile struggle to be ‘better’ than them.

The other is only looking within at yourself – and asking “Did I give it my best shot? Could I have done more?”

I hear that grumpy little naysayer inside your head whine: “Ah, come off it. Who’s got time to bother about changing the world. Just let me write a book.”
